"Learning is a treasure that will follow it's owner everywhere" - Chinese Proverb.

  • When did the project start?
The project started in 2000 by the late Mr. Ehsan Ullah Khan and is now being continued by his family and friends.
  • Why Education?
We believe that education is the passport for the future.
  • Where is the School?
The school is in the village of Bustan which is situated approximately 80 miles north of the city of Lahore, in the Punjab district of Pakistan.
  • Who manages and runs the school?
The management and day to day running of the school is done by a Board of Governors and the School Principal. Our primary function is to provide the necessary resources and facilities for the girls to attain at least a basic level of education.

  • Is the school for boys and girls?
No, it's a girl’s only school.
  •  How many girls attend the school?
Originally there were 300 girls but the number has now risen to 450 - as further facilities have been provided, more children from surrounding areas have started to attend.
  • What is the age group of the girls?
From nursery to senior school.
  • How is the work managed?
This is done through Muslim Hands. We are responsible for raising the funds and Muslim Hands oversee all the work on our behalf and provide us with regular feedback. Their expenses are recouped through Gift Aid.

  • What has been achieved?
Highlights include:
·         Constructed three classrooms.
·         Sponsored a teacher.
·         Clean running water and water coolers provided.
·         Desks, chairs and other basic teaching aids supplied.
·         Constructed bathrooms and sanitation facilities.
  • What is the next phase of the project?
We are collecting funds for an assembly/exam hall and to build more classrooms.
  • What are the plans for the future?
There is still so much we can do e.g. construct a play area for the younger children, build a library, construct more classrooms, sponsor more teachers who are specialised in their chosen subjects and provide more facilities like blackboards, desks and other basic teaching aids. The children also need a surgery where basic health checks may be carried out.

  • Are you looking to extend the project to other villages?
Not at present. The main focus is on this village but this will be reviewed once we have met all our objectives.
  •  When is the last time you made a visit to the school?
A visit was made with Muslim Hands in March 2005.
  • How do you collect the funds?
Money is being collected via donations and fund raising events. Donations have come mainly from family and friends – spread the word and get your family and friends to donate!
  • Is all the money being donated being used exclusively for this project?
Yes. Muslim Hands will verify this.
  •  How can we donate?
