"The beautiful thing about learning is that no one can take it away from you" B.B. King (World Famous Blues Musician)
We are two brothers (Waseem and Dr. Naem Khan) and a close friend (Ifran Usman) who are trying to change the lives of under privileged children in a remote village, Bustan, in Pakistan. Although born and bred in London, we are of Pakistani origin and are doing our part to help the country of our fore fathers. All three of us have families and careers - we carry out this project in what spare time we have - but we have a very strong passion and zeal to make this project a success. Education, the key to success
Our late father was a great believer in that every child no matter what creed or colour should have the right to a decent standard of education. Education brings about knowledge, skills and a discipline which helps an individual throughout their life - it breaks down barriers of intolerance, oppression and abuse and will help a community to thrive.
When we first visited Bustan Village Girls School with our late father, we were aware of the lack of education in Pakistan. However, we were still shocked when we experienced the pitiful state of the school which lacked basic facilities and the dreadful conditions that the children were taught in. Resources that you and I take for granted were only a dream for the girls and teachers. We did however notice that they did have the sprit and the will to succeed. Having been fortunate to be educated in a comfortable environment in the UK, we decided that we would do our best to help the girls of Bustan Village School.
In conjunction with our family, friends and the charity Muslim Hands, we are committed to help build this school to a good standard and hope that it will inspire others to do the same. However, we can only succeed with your help! We are proud with what has been achieved but with your help we can do so much more!
