The Bustan Village School Project. "Our progress as a nation can be no swifter than our progress in education"-John F. Kennedy.
Education plays an important role in a nation’s development. It raises the productivity and efficiency of individuals and produces skilled manpower that supports a country’s economy towards the path of a sustainable economic growth.
Unfortunately, the situation of education in Pakistan is not very encouraging, with many schools struggling to cope without basic equipment. The vast majority of villages and remote areas are without any schools and those lucky enough to have schools are often without basic sanitation facilities, clean water and even classrooms - children often sit on the bare ground under the open sky during the freezing cold months of winter and the severe heat of summer.
The school in the village of Bustan is one such example. The village, situated approximately 80 miles north of the city of Lahore, has a school which is the only educational establishment in the area. Although the school caters for over 300 girls, resources are in very short supply or in the need of urgent repair.
The necessary resources will help the children of Bustan to attain at least some level of education. Not only the children, but the communities that they live in will ultimately benefit from their education. Our ultimate aim is to turn the school into a centre of excellence and enable children from the surrounding villages to attend.

Over the last five years, through kind donations, we have achieved the following:
· Constructed three classrooms. · Constructed a science Lab. · Sponsored a Chemistry teacher. · Clean running water and water coolers provided. · Desks, chairs and other basic teaching aids supplied. · Constructed bathrooms and sanitation facilities. · Constructed and furnished a staff room.
Keep the children smiling - support our cause
All the work undertaken has been channelled via the charity organisation Muslim Hands through their “It’s My Project” scheme.
The next phase of the project is to collect enough funds, to build an assembly hall so that the children do not have to travel long distances to sit their exams. Our target is to collect £10,000 over the next 12 months.
The Bustan Project was started by the late Mr. Ehsan Ullah Khan and it is now being continued by his family and friends
